As a result of recent significant passenger growth and continued forecasted growth over the long term, the San Francisco International Airport needed to address future parking capacity needs, particularly for long-term projected demand.
Working closely with the GC Nibbi, DLR (formerly KH) in a joint venture with FMG + Company, completed a new parking facility located within LOT DD. The site had an existing parking structure and surface parking and is adjacent to Lot D. FMG completed all design packages on time and on budget.
This garage is certified as a green Parksmart garage, and achieved net-zero energy consumption via the use of photovoltaic panels and other sustainability features.
The Airport utilized a Design-Build method of project delivery for this Project to integrate the Contractor and Architects and Engineers were co-located at the Airport throughout the Project to improve the reliability of design, quality of documentation and accuracy of cost models, as well as to plan and organize the sequence of construction. The garage opened in 2019.
