Crenshaw Light Rail

FMG Architects provided architectural design support to the Engineering team for eight stations of the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project. The 8.5-mile light-rail line will run between the Expo Line on Exposition Boulevard and the Metro Green Line. This design-build project consists of aerialĀ  and below-grade segments with all remaining areas at-grade.

The Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project will serve the Crenshaw District, Inglewood, Westchester and surrounding area with eight stations. In addition to being an alternative transportation option to congested roadways, the Crenshaw Light Rail project will also provide significant benefits to the Los Angeles County economy.

The Aviation / Century Station is one of eight stations for the Crenshaw Light Rail. The station is elevated above ground and located near the intersection of Aviation and West Century Boulevard in the Westchester district of Los Angeles. FMG Architects was involved in the production and documentation of the Aviation / Century Station.

There were many challenges during the design of the Aviation/Century Station project. One significant effort was the location of the elevator in front of the seismic joint which was sealed to prevent rain from falling onto the concourse level.
