FMG is serving as the architect for the LA Metro Torrance Transit Center Station—a planned at-grade light rail facility that will provide vital connectivity within the City of Torrance. Strategically located adjacent to the City’s Transit Center (TC) bus plaza and associated parking facilities, the station is designed for full accessibility via pedestrian crosswalks and pathways, ensuring safe and intuitive movement for all users. The station entrance is thoughtfully designed to blend seamlessly with the existing Torrance Transit Center, creating a cohesive multimodal transportation hub that promotes sustainable and efficient regional travel.
In collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and consultants, FMG is advancing the station design to the bridging document level, ensuring both technical rigor and constructability in preparation for design-build implementation. The design adapts LA Metro’s standard at-grade station prototype to meet the unique site conditions and technical requirements of a terminus station. The challenging project site presents a range of constraints, which the team is addressing with a design that prioritizes user comfort, safety, and integration with the surrounding community.
