BART Accessibility Improvement Program

In a joint venture prime role, FMG is providing improved accessibility for several BART station sites to accommodate passengers who are disabled or have limited mobility. The project focuses on conducting visual surveys and completing conceptual design for accessibility improvements to the following BART stations: North Berkeley, Rockridge, Lafayette, and Castro Valley. The project involves replacement or modification of curb and linear ramps and sidewalks, as well as identifying concrete deficiencies along platform edge warning tiles. Architectural improvements include handrail corrections, addition or replacement of wheelchair-accessible telephone, TTY and courtesy phones, platform edge warning tiles replacement, wall protrusion detection, hearing loops inclusion, and improved lighting in the existing elevator areas.
