Wayfinding Project Management, Design

Universal wayfinding and consistency in communication is a major component of an efficient public transportation system. BART identified the need for improved wayfinding and signage throughout its entire system. As the Project Manager and Designer of Record, FMG has completed three phases of this project, with phase 4 in progress. The scope consists of state-of-the-art illuminated signs, custom display cases, station identification pylons, kiosks, and real-time displays for over 30 stations in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, and San Mateo Counties. Existing wayfinding, directional, and transit signs improvements include reduction of written messages and incorporation of graphic symbols and logos that comply with BART facilities standards.
