SFO Recycled Water System Project

FMG is providing architectural services as part of the Progressive Design-Build team for the expansion of the Mel Leong Treatment Plant (MLTP) at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The project includes the design, construction, permitting, activation, commissioning, and closeout of new Advanced Water Treatment (AWTP) and Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) facilities that will serve SFO terminals and associated buildings.

As architect, FMG is also responsible for multiple ancillary structures within the expanded campus. These structures will house critical equipment, staff offices, locker rooms, and visitor facilities.

Once complete, the project will support SFO’s sustainability goals. AWTP will treat and recycle greywater, supplying treated non-potable water to LEED Gold-certified buildings, while the SBR will treat and discharge the airport’s sanitary sewage.
